Choose your state or territory
Tender opportunities are published differently in every state and territory. Pick yours for the portals and services that actually cover your area. The page below covers the national sources that work anywhere in Australia.
Two kinds of tender site, and why it matters
Primary sources
The sites where buyers publish tenders directly: government procurement portals and the council platforms they use. Nothing sits between you and the buyer, so the information is first-hand and always current. The trade-off is that you have to know which portal covers which buyer, and some are clunky.
Aggregators
Services that pull listings from many primary sources into one searchable feed with email alerts. They save you checking a dozen portals, and most charge a subscription for it. The catch is that coverage is never total and a listing can lag the source, so always click through to the primary source before you rely on a closing date.
Ease-of-use key: ★★★ easy ★★ moderate ★ difficult · tap any row for the full rundown
Primary sources: where buyers post directly
AusTender Federal government portal ★★★
The single place every Australian Government agency publishes. Search is clean, alerts are reliable, and it costs nothing. The one limit is scope: it is Commonwealth only, so pair it with your state portal for the full picture.
VendorPanel Council and government panels ★★★
Used by hundreds of councils and agencies to run quotes and panels. It is free to register as a supplier, but a lot of the work is invitation-based, so getting onto the right panels matters more than watching the public listings. Set up your profile properly and it pays off.
TenderLink Councils and utilities portal ★★★
Broad coverage of council and utility work, and the buyer you want may only publish here. The interface feels dated and full notifications sit behind a paid plan. Worth it if your sector genuinely lives on it, otherwise start with the free sources.
Aggregators: sites that collect listings for you
Australian Tenders National aggregator ★★★
Pulls opportunities from across federal, state and local sources into one daily alert matched to your keywords. Good for a quick read of the market without checking every portal. Treat the listing as a pointer and click through to the primary source to confirm details before you commit.
TenderSearch Subscription aggregator ★★★
A paid service aimed at businesses that tender regularly, with category filters and managed alerts. The value is in the time saved once you have dialled in your categories. Overkill if you only chase the occasional tender, where a free alert will do.
Site names, ease-of-use ratings and descriptions are placeholders for this draft and will be confirmed during research.
